about

Cluck Old Hen:
A well-known fiddle and banjo tune throughout the Appalachian South. It is played either as an instrumental or with lyrics, which vary from one version to another. The earliest recording is attributed to Fiddlin' John Carson in 1923.

Frosty Morning:
Also called ‘Cold Frosty Morning’, it was collected by Alan Jabbour from Henry Reed of Glen Lyn, Virginia. in 1966. Henry Reed was born in 1885 and learned his tunes from old fiddlers as a boy. The tune itself may well have been written to commemorate the Battle of Culloden in 1746
